Who are the "songbirds"?
These are the 12 most popular domestic birdies: Blackbird - Song Thrush - Blackcap - Garden Warbler - Robin - Nightingale - Bluethroat - Redstart - Collared Flycatcher - Willow Warbler - Woodlark and the Oriole. The recordings of the bird calls are made by Jean-Claude Roché (France), one of the best bird call experts. Bird calls bring lightness and a piece of nature into your home.
"Songbirds" is also the name of our classic: a 34cm round wall clock with a bird singing its song for about 15 seconds every full hour. These melodies are excerpts from the original recordings by Jean-Claude Roché. The bird calls recorded in the wild have a fixed sequence: blackbird - song thrush - blackcap - garden warbler - robin - nightingale - bluethroat - redstart - collared flycatcher - willow lark - woodlark - oriole. A light sensor ensures silence, when it's dark the birdies go to sleep. The frame is either made of wood or plastic, painted in different colors. Songbirds is available in two versions: with a radio-controlled quartz movement and with text (the bird's name on the dial) or with a quartz movement without radio and without text.
Who are the illustrations on the dial?.
The vividly designed dial shows the colorful and detailed illustrations by the bird illustrator Killian Mullarney (Ireland ) and Dan Zetterstrom (Sweden).
Which batteries to use?
Use new 1.5V batteries. A voltage of <1.2V can be the cause of functional errors. Swap the batteries with each other, this can help identify - if the cause is weak batteries.
What is BirdHouse?
The KooKoo BirdHouse is a modern cuckoo clock with a pendulum. The housing is made of MDF wood. BirdHouse includes the 12 bird calls mentioned above and a cuckoo. You can choose the voice: every hour a different bird sings or the cuckoo calls the time. Each clock comes with four differently colored birds and pendulum discs, which can easily be exchanged using the magnetic holder. The pendulum is removable. A light sensor ensures nocturnal rest.
How do I set BirdHouse?
Setting the time is easy: gently turn the minute hand clockwise. At 12:00 - click - the "trigger" is activated. The pendulum must hang loosely and be movable. Carefully opening and closing the doors (BirdBox) with your fingers does not damage the mechanism. The left and middle batteries are responsible for the BirdBox and the bird calls and the right battery for the clock and pendulum mechanism.
How do I synchronize the number of cuckoo calls with the time?
Remove the batteries / turn the minute hand to 12:50 / reinsert the batteries / turn the minute hand to the current time oor press the cuckoo button on the back the clock to set the number of rings. Example: the current time is 3:15, now press the cuckoo button until the cuckoo calls 3 times. Each press+release increases your reputation by +1 (cycle 1-12).
BirdHouse vs. BirdHouse mini
BirdHouse mini has no pendulum and is a small cuckoo clock - as the name suggests. The functions and bird calls of both watches are identical. The wooden housing of the BirdHouse mini is about half the size of that of the BirdHouse. BirdHouse mini is supplied with a metal rod: two magnets attached to the underside of the housing hold the metal rod on which three little magnet birds can be attached.
BirdHouse mini vs AnimalHouse
AnimalHouse and BirdHouse mini have an identical MDF wooden house. AnimalHouse is a funny and crazy cuckoo clock with a rooster, a dog, a cat, a pig and an elephant. It is available in five strong colors and is therefore intended more for children. BirdHouse mini is available in black and white.
KooKoo UltraFlat
At just 18mm deep, the KooKoo UltraFlat / UltraFlat color is the flattest songbird watch in the KooKoo range. Bird calls and functionality are identical to the classic "Singing Birds". UltraFlat is available in two versions:

Light sensor
All KooKoo clocks - except for the EarlyBird and KidsAlarm alarm clock - have a light sensor. The technical specification of the light sensor is: When it is dark <0.8 lux, quiet in the nest is guaranteed. With daylight >2.0 light, trilling is guaranteed again.
Is real gold used for the Songbirds RC Gold Edition?
Yes, real gold leaf is used: 22.5 ct for the variant in yellow gold, 12.0 ct for the variant in white gold. The wooden frame of the songbird clock is primed seven times, gilded with gold leaf, polished to a high gloss and covered with a protective layer of lacquer in a laborious manual process over many hours by the master gilder. Each clock comes with a certificate from the master gilder.
Where can I store the included animal figures?
To keep the animals near the clock at BirdHouse, use mini and AnimalHouse simply uses the included stick, which they attach magnetically to the bottom of the case. The KidsAlarm alarm clock has magnetic recesses on the sides so that the figures don't get lost.
Does my child understand how to use the KidsAlarm alarm clock? How does it know when the alarm is on?
KidsAlarm is specially designed for kids. To activate the alarm, one of the magnet animals is placed on top of the middle of the case. To switch off, simply remove the animal and store it in the magnetic side compartment or place it on the magnetic surface on the front left at the top of the housing.
How loud is the BirdHouse's pendulum ticking?
The pendulum the BirdHouse is battery powered and works almost silently.
Where do the bird illustrations of the KooKoo songbirds come from?
The 12 bird illustrations on the dial were penned by ornithologists and illustrators Killian Mullarney (Ireland) and Dan Zetterström (Sweden).
Where do the illustrations of KidsWorld come from?
The drawings on the clock face of the KooKoo Kidsworld come from the well-known illustrator Monika Neubauer-Fesser.

How do I set the correct voice order?
Please remove the batteries and then set the clock to 12:50. Now put the batteries back in and set the hands clockwise to the correct time.
Why are the animal sounds so quiet?
The volume of the animal sounds is controlled by a light sensor controlled (exception: KooKoo alarm clock): The darker, the quieter the voices. The batteries may also be low and will need to be replaced soon.
Can I turn off the animal sounds at night?
KooKoo watches have a built-in light sensor that automatically turns off the animal sounds every hour when it gets dark. If you want to turn off the animal sounds completely, you can remove the batteries that are marked accordingly.
How do I know which bird is singing at what time?

Which birds can be heard in the bird call clocks (Songbirds, UltraFlat, BirdHouse, BirdHouse mini)?
The voices of local songbirds are original recordings from the wild. You can hear blackbirds, song thrushes, blackcaps, garden warblers, robins, nightingales, bluethroats, redstarts, collared flycatchers, willow larks, woodlarks and oriole.
The BirdHouse and BirdHouse mini also have a choice of cuckoo.
What melodies does the clock play children's songs?

Every hour on the hour, the original recording of a different country animal sounds: bee, duck, donkey, frog , dog, rooster, cat, cow, horse, sheep, goat, pig.
Which animal sounds does the EarlyBird alarm clock play?
You can choose from the rooster with hens, the oriole, the cuckoo, the raven or a yoga gong to choose from. The alarm tone gets louder in three stages until you wake up (automatic 3-stage crescendo)
Which animal sounds does the AnimalHouse clock / the KidsAlarm alarm clock play?
Every full hour sounds the original recording of the animal set on the back of the device. You can choose between a rooster, a cat, a dog, a pig or an elephant.

Are batteries included in the scope of delivery?
KooKoo watches are shipped without batteries.
How long will the batteries in my KooKoo watch last?
Battery life is approx ages approx. 8-10 months.
Can I use rechargeable batteries in my KooKoo watch?
No Due to the lower voltage of rechargeable batteries, the functionality of your watch may be affected when they are used. We therefore recommend always using new batteries with a voltage of 1.5V.
I have misplaced the operating instructions. Where can I find a replacement?

How long does the delivery take?
In Germany we deliver by DHL within approx. 2-3 working days.
What payment methods are available to me?
In the KooKoo online shop you can pay by invoice, prepayment and PayPal. For orders over 150 euros, we ask for prepayment.

What is a radio controlled quartz movement? / What is the difference between a radio-controlled quartz movement and a "normal" quartz movement?
A watch with a radio-controlled quartz movement synchronizes the correct time to the second using a radio signal. Changeovers to summer and winter time are thus carried out fully automatically. Even after changing the battery, your watch sets the correct time to the second.
Which watches are available with a radio-controlled quartz movement?
You can recognize the radio-controlled variant by the addition "RC" in the product designation. The abbreviation comes from the English word "radio-controlled" and means "radio-controlled". What happens if the radio signal fails?
