This species feeds mainly on small fruits. Their display flights can be seen above the forests during the mating season. The male pigeon flies high into the sky and down again in spirals before landing in a tree top. Couples are inseparable. Their nests are built so sloppily that the white eggs can be seen from below. The incubation period lasts between 16 and 19 days. The young juveniles are initially fed a cheese-like mass from the crop of the parents that is formed by both the male and female during the breeding season.
