Kolkrabe Bird Call

Characteristics: 64 cm long, wing-span 1.20 m. All black plumage.  Both males and females have identical colouring.  Bulky bill, wedge-shaped tail.
Call: A deep, hollow prruk-prruk call. In addition various other calls including a metallic call.  Its song is a quiet, varied chattering made up of different tones.  Bill-snapping and flight noises are among its instrumental sounds.
Habitation:  Inhabits loosely wooded landscapes from high mountains to low mountain ranges and from tundra to seashores.  The Raven can be found in Central Europe in the Alps in particular, up to the highest locations.  Ravens are resident birds that often disperse over long distances outside of the breeding season.
Distribution: From Northern Scandinavia, Scotland and Iceland and as far south as the southern edge of the Sahara.  Also distributed across almost all of Asia and North America.
Biology: The large eyrie can be found in high trees or on cliff faces. The birds lay 4 to 6 eggs from as early as February. The base colour of the eggs is a light blue to greenish-brownish colour and speckled with dark brown or olive brown. The eggs are incubated by the female only for approx. 3 weeks.  1 clutch a year.
